In her series Fauxtobooth, Kate Lindsay Taeuschel joins visual artist Kieran Stacey to reproduce the vintage photobooth and the candid moments captured inside. Shot digitally in a studio, the series is a playful collection of emotions shot in sequences of four images at a time, aiming to replicate the authentic ― and sometimes frustrating ― timing posed subjects experience in a genuine photobooth. 

While real-world photobooths are scarce to come by in 2025, the experience is now portable and profitable; supervised screens at events, or traditional boxes in bars, are all using digital processing under the guise of touchable and unrepeatable keepsakes - a reality the artists do not criticize, but play within, to create their own charmingly circumstantial images.
